About Carroll
Malibu is synonymous with celebrity and those superstar bodies know it. Carroll Krieff has long been training people so famous she can’t mention names, but suffice to say - they’re loyal Malibu Pilates® Studio fans. For over a decade, Carroll’s ‘little studio by the sea’ has been the place where film, television, music and runway VIPs lengthen, strengthen and tone their muscles for a shape we all covet. Interestingly enough, Carroll’s goal has always been to bring her super results-oriented workout to everyone.
Growing up in Malibu, Carroll was naturally athletic – a champion equestrian, surfer, gymnast, and marathon runner. Fascinated by the human body and its potential, she started her fitness career as a neuromuscular therapist, during which time she was introduced to Pilates. She found that with Pilates her own body quickly transformed from bigger, bulkier and more body-builder-like to long, lithe, and lean, like a dancer’s body. Plus, the workout inspired an unmatched sense of well-being. She was immediately hooked and decided to become a Pilates trainer.
Carroll began her training with famed Pilates guru Romana Kryzanowska in New York and continued her training at the Performing Arts Physical Therapy Studio in Los Angeles. Upon graduating she opened her first Malibu Pilates® Studio. With no advertising, Carroll rapidly became the talk of Malibu and the stellar word of mouth has kept her in large demand. Her current studio was the first full-service Pilates studio in Malibu, founded over a decade ago.
Carroll’s Malibu Pilates® Studio is filled with other top-of-the-line Pilates equipment which Carroll uses to maximum advantage. Most importantly, Carroll has her clients working their hardest without even realising it. Because of her vivacious personality and the fact that she is so easy-going, warm and encouraging, it makes people trust her and look to her with their most important possession, their bodies.
“Working out shouldn’t be a chore,” says Carroll. “I want the time during my training sessions to fly by. With that in mind, the journey for me is about taking Pilates farther and wider so that more people can appreciate the benefits, enhancing their bodies and their lives".
Dedicated and true to traditional Pilates, Carroll has also expanded on the workout by developing her own equipment, namely the exclusive Malibu Pilates® Chair. Inspired by the original Pilates Wunda Chair, Carroll created this highly-effective, streamlined chair-shaped apparatus which offers the best results in the shortest amount of time. The Malibu Pilates® Chair allows for fast-paced, but safe movement that is aerobic, promoting weight loss and fat burning benefits. As the Number One apparatus in her studio, the Malibu Pilates® Chair gets everyone in shape – from female celebrities who need fast, dramatic results for a movie or photo shoot, to men, who are generally a tougher sell when it comes to Pilates.
Carroll currently lives in Malibu with her three sons, who drove home the beneficial effects of Pilates after their births. After the birth of her first child, she jumped into Pilates with her whole heart and soul. She found that Pilates, indeed, transformed her body in record time. By following her own Pilates regimen, Carroll shed her baby weight in no time, and always found she looked and felt even better than she had before her pregnancies.
Carroll has choreographed numerous Pilates videos and continues to work on a host of other fitness videos and DVD projects. Carroll has worked with top exercise specialists, including Mari Winsor of Winsor Pilates® and Teri Hanson, a fitness editor and manager of an exclusive studio in Woodland Hills, Improve Fitness. Carroll is also the ‘go to’ Pilates trainer for countless fitness publications.
Carroll’s passion for Pilates and the desire to make people stronger, fitter and healthier, through the introduction of her Malibu Pilates® Chair, is a dream come true.
